I met Ron in Memphis back in the mid 90's and immediately became friends with him through our mutual love for fishing. Ron was one of the hardest working individuals I have ever met. He never sat still because he was so full of life and energy. I nicknamed Ron "The Ninja" because of his incredible work ethic and personality. When Ron retired he became laser focused on fishing, professional photography, and teaching people to fish. He spent countless hours volunteering, hosting fishing rodeos, doing philanthropy work, co-hosting the Outdoors with Larry Rea radio show, and of course fishing. Ron was also a great cook and was famous for his homemade hush puppies. I have so many great memories of Ron and am proud to call him my friend. Ron will be dearly missed by all and I know he will proud that we have created the Ron Wong Legacy Foundation to honor him. RIP in peace Ron Wong. Love you brother!

I met Ron Wong at the first Brushpile Fishing Academy in October 2023 at Holmes Bend Marina on Green River Lake. Ron was so friendly, kind, and welcoming. Becoming friends with Ron was so natural and uplifting. He not only supported fishing, he supported his fishing people. I had many interactions with Ron following that first BPFA, at other academies and in other settings as well. I miss his presence in my life. Each time I think of him, and that's often, my memories of him cause me to smile a big smile!

I only got to meet Ron Wong in the last few years thanks to the BrushPile Fishing media camps and Academy events. Being one of the other media guys there, I was able to talk shop with him while we were there and it was fantastic listening to his process on getting the things he took pictures of.

On top of that, the Hush Puppies were amazing! Always was a staple any time he was there.
